<p>This note is about the concept of beauty, also related to <a href="/notes/xs74dyi7fb3gx15842bo3cs">Subjectivity</a> and <a href="/notes/og03e64w5md8020y9n3rybt">Aesthetics</a>. An argument is that beauty is a quirk of sexual selection. My understanding is broader: the aesthetic sense is a form of information compression for action-oriented appraisal of the environment, cf. sensory ecology and biosemiotics.</p>
